The iron plays a very important role in home furnishing. Although many people avoid using it, in some situations it is essential. What model should we choose to make ironing simple and fast?
The answer to this question is not as simple as some might think. It should be remembered that irons on the market come in many different varieties, which differ not only in design but also in the supported functions. This situation is typical for so-called large and small household appliances. Bosch washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, washers, kettles - all of these devices are now so extensive that their selection can be a problem.
Of course there is a way out of every situation. In the case of an iron, it is necessary to analyze all the most important technical parameters, which determine the possibilities of the device. On this basis we should choose the most suitable model for us.
What to pay attention to?
It is worth to start from the beginning, i.e. from determining the type of iron we are interested in. The basic division of these devices includes wired and wireless models.
In the first group there are standard irons, which guarantee the use of a certain power and selected temperature at all times. So we don't have to worry about possible voltage drops or other irregularities (unless we use an extension).
The advantage of wireless models, however, is the high freedom of movement - the cable stretching from the back does not limit our movements, so we can iron extremely accurately. On the side of the drawbacks of these solutions, it is necessary to write down the necessity of frequent putting the iron back to the base, where the foot is heated. In many situations it can turn out to be tiring.
It is also worth noting that there are non-standard models on the market. Such models include the dry iron, which does not use water during operation. There are also special touring devices, distinguished by their compact size and low weight, as well as system irons, which have a separate steam generator.
Key parameters
Since we have already told ourselves what types of irons can be found on the market, the time has come to analyze the important technical parameters that determine the possibilities of available devices.
-
Power. It's important because the bigger it is, the faster the iron heats up. This is especially important if you have a lot of clothes to iron or just don't have enough time. Irons with a power of 1500 - 2000 W will prove sufficient for everyday use.
-
Type of foot. Many people underestimate this issue, but it is very important. It is the way the iron is made that determines the effectiveness of ironing and the strength of the iron itself. Ceramic alloys are especially valued, which have excellent scratch resistance and guarantee good slip.
The models with a steel alloy are also of good quality, the only drawback of which is that it is difficult to clean. The cheapest irons have Teflon alloys, which perform very well during operation, but are characterized by low scratch resistance.
-
Temperature control. It is absolutely necessary because it allows us to iron various materials, including very delicate ones. Temperature control in the cheapest models is done with a knob, but you can also find irons with buttons and special displays.
-
Functions and equipment. Amongst other things, the anti-calcare system, self-cleaning function, continuous steam generation or even various types of protection that protect clothes from damage.
-
Company. The quality of such devices often depends also on the manufacturer, who is responsible for their preparation. We advise against choosing the cheapest models, coming from an unknown company or one that has a dubious reputation. They analyze the current market offer, without a doubt worthy of recommendation is the Philips iron, which uses many new technologies.
